Rank is players over the last seven days. A big server showing offline while the rest are up is that server restarting or wiping, not Rust being down.
The current verdict
Rust servers are up. That call comes from reading the full public server list every five minutes. We put 11,496 servers and 61,729 players against what this hour normally looks like. If the gap is big, you will see it here.
When the list says up but your game shows nothing
That is almost never Rust. It is Steam or your setup. Try these in order:
- Restart Steam. The in-game browser is Steam's list. A stale session can come back empty.
- Check your filters. A region or tag you set months ago will hide every server.
- See if Steam is down. When Steam's list fails, every game's browser fails. This page usually dips too.
- On force wipe day, update the game. After the update, servers restart one at a time. If you are on the old build, you will see nothing.
- Test without your VPN. A VPN or strict firewall can block the UDP traffic the browser needs.
If only one server is missing, that server is restarting, wiping or down. Its page here shows when it was last seen.
What the numbers mean
A normal day is not flat. Peak hours are busier, early mornings are quieter. We compare the current count to the same hour on previous days. Small drops are normal. A fall to half of the usual number is not.
If the total is more than 15% below normal, we mark it as a dip. If it is below half, that is an outage. Otherwise, servers are up.
Big servers
The largest servers — those with queues at peak — are included in the total. If they are down, you will see it in the numbers before you see it in the list. Check the live player count for the full picture.
Reading the charts
The 48-hour charts show the last two days. Look for the shape: a smooth line is healthy, a sudden cliff is an outage. The charts update every five minutes with the rest of the page.
Questions
Are Rust servers down right now?
The verdict above is live. It compares 11,496 servers and 61,729 players to the usual count for this hour. If the total is 85% of normal or higher, servers are up. Below half is an outage.
Why does my game show no servers when this page says they are up?
That points to Steam or your own setup. Restart Steam, clear your server browser filters, check Steam's status, and on force wipe day make sure Rust is updated. The steps earlier on this page cover what to try.
How fresh is the data on this page?
The page reads the server list every five minutes. A timestamp under the verdict shows the last read. If it is more than 25 minutes old, the page will say so rather than guess.
